Trained as an artillerist in his youth, Napoleon paid special attention to the role of this combat arm on the battlefield. The gunners, serving guns built in accordance with the Gribeuval system, wear horse artillery uniforms with a characteristic skin cap. The uniforms of the artillery drivers are remarkable, too.
